How much does FAMNET cost a school?
Nothing, under the default model: each parent contributes TZS 3,500 per year when opening results. Alternatively the school pays a term or annual fee and parents pay nothing. SMS credit and a school's own WhatsApp number are optional add-ons.
How do parents log in?
With the student's registration number as username and the student's registered name as password — no app required. Each child has a separate login.
Can parents pay school fees through FAMNET?
Yes. The Lipa Ada page offers USSD push, a control number payable on M-Pesa, Airtel Money, Mixx by Yas, Halopesa and CRDB, and (where enabled) bank/card checkout. The payment posts into the school's books automatically with a receipt.
How are results calculated?
Teachers upload marks per subject from an Excel template. The school sets CA % and exam %, grade boundaries, divisions/points and which subjects count; the system computes averages, grades, divisions, positions and prints report cards with the school's header and logo.
Is WhatsApp messaging really free?
Yes — up to 500 messages per day per school from the FAMNET number, with no character limit. Only numbers that are not on WhatsApp fall back to SMS at TZS 35.
Who owns the data?
The school. It can export everything to Excel at any time and request deletion. FAMNET processes the data only to provide the service — see the Privacy Policy.
Do we need to install anything?
No. It runs in any browser on a phone or computer. Teachers may optionally use the FAMNET Staff app for attendance, marks and chat.
