Parents can now pay school fees from their phones

Lipa Ada: USSD push, a control number that works on M-Pesa, Airtel Money, Mixx by Yas, Halopesa and CRDB, or bank/card checkout. Receipts arrive on WhatsApp and the school books update automatically.

Product update

The Parents area has a new page, Lipa Ada / Pay Fees. A parent sees each fee type with the amount required, paid and the balance, chooses what to pay, and pays in one of three ways:

  • USSD push to the phone (Airtel Money, Tigo/Yas, Halotel) — enter PIN and done.
  • Control number — the system issues a number for the exact amount; pay it as the reference on M-Pesa (Lipa kwa M-Pesa), Airtel Money, Mixx by Yas, Halopesa or any CRDB channel (SimBanking, app, internet banking, wakala, branch). It never expires.
  • Bank / card checkout page (where enabled by the school).

When the payment is confirmed, it is posted into the school's payment books exactly like an accountant entry — with a school receipt — and the parent, the finance office and the school number are notified on WhatsApp (SMS if WhatsApp is not available). Accountants have a new Online Fee Payments page to reconcile with ClickPesa settlements.
