Online fee payments by parents — what the accountant sees

Parents pay from their phones; the payment posts itself into the payment books with a school receipt. Nothing to re-enter — just verify and continue.

Updated 06/10/2026

Parents pay on the Lipa Ada page of the Parents area in three ways: USSD push to the phone (Airtel/Tigo/Halotel), a control number payable on M-Pesa, Airtel Money, Mixx by Yas, Halopesa and CRDB/bank channels, or (when enabled) a bank/card checkout page. How parents pay.

What happens when a payment completes

  • It is recorded like an accountant entry: bank ClickPesa (Mobile Money), issuer PARENT-ONLINE, method Mobile Money or Bank, with a school receipt (R…). It appears in every payment report and the student's balance drops immediately.
  • The parent gets a Swahili receipt by WhatsApp/SMS; finance staff and the school number get an English notice.

The accountant's page

Payments › Online Fee Payments (ClickPesa): every attempt with date, student, class, fee, amount, phone, channel (USSD push / Control No. / Checkout link and the wallet or bank that paid), status (COMPLETED, PENDING, FAILED), school receipt and ClickPesa reference. Tiles show collected online, completed and pending counts. Use the ClickPesa reference to match the settlement on your ClickPesa dashboard.

PENDING with a control number means the parent has a number but has not paid yet — it never expires. FAILED USSD pushes are normal (the parent cancelled or had no balance).
